Why Therapy Is an Investment in Your Child
If you’re feeling worried about your child and wondering what to do next, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Schedule a consultation today and let’s talk about how I can help your child feel more confident, capable, and in control. The 20-minute consultation is free, so you have nothing to lose!
When you’re looking for therapy for your child or teen, you’re not just paying for sessions, you’re investing in real, lasting change.
At The Social Mind Counseling, my goal is not to keep your child in therapy forever. In fact, it’s the opposite. I want your child to gain the skills, confidence, and insight they need so they can move forward and fully enjoy their life. For many families, that means meaningful progress in just a few months.
Every child is different, but here’s what I focus on: Real, practical tools that actually work in everyday life.
Not just talking, but learning how to manage anxiety, navigate friendships, handle school stress, and build confidence in real-world situations.
Because when therapy is done right, it works faster and it sticks.
Why I Don’t Take Insurance (And Why That Helps You)
You may be searching for therapy for anxiety in teens near Huntington, NY or ADHD therapy for girls on Long Island and wondering about insurance.
I am an out-of-network provider, and I’ve chosen this intentionally.
Insurance companies often limit what we can do in therapy, how long we can meet, and even what approaches we can use. My work is flexible, individualized, and sometimes creative. That’s how I help kids break through anxiety and build real confidence.
I don’t want insurance companies dictating your child’s care. I want to do what actually helps. (Keep reading for more)

Good News! You May Still Get Reimbursed
Even though I don’t take insurance directly, many families receive significant reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.
And here’s the part parents LOVE:
You don’t have to figure it out alone.
I partner with a professional biller who handles the reimbursement process for you.
No confusing forms. No chasing claims. No guesswork. And it's part of my customer service! Because getting the support your child needs, should not be that hard!

That said, if your child is sick, please keep them home. I appreciate your help in keeping everyone healthy, and exceptions are made for illness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with boys?
Yes. While my practice specializes in girls, I do work with boys when it feels like a strong clinical fit for both of us.
Do you work with neurodivergent clients or different learning profiles?
Absolutely. I primarily work with clients with ADHD, but I also support those with Autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences. My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, meaning I tailor therapy to how your child’s brain works, not the other way around.
How soon will we notice a difference?
Many families begin to see shifts early on. While I do spend 1–2 sessions building rapport, your child is also learning skills right away. Some younger children complete therapy in a few months, while others choose to stay longer for continued support. It truly depends on your child’s needs and goals.
Do you offer telehealth?
I offer limited telehealth sessions for college students who can stay focused and engaged in a virtual format. For most children and teens, I strongly prefer in-person sessions for the best results.
Can you diagnose my child?
I do not provide formal diagnoses. If needed, I will refer you to a trusted psychologist for a comprehensive evaluation. Many families come in with an existing diagnosis.
Will you communicate with my child’s school?
Yes. When appropriate, I collaborate with schools because it can be an important part of helping your child succeed, especially if school avoidance or anxiety is present.
What makes your approach different?
My sessions go beyond talk therapy. I teach your child how their brain and body work, and I give them concrete, usable strategies to manage anxiety, ADHD, and social challenges. We focus on leaning in and building skills, not avoiding discomfort. This is how real change happens.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. However, if you are considering medication, I can connect you with trusted providers who can guide you through that process.
How do I pay for sessions?
All payments are handled through a secure client portal where you’ll complete paperwork and manage billing.
Do you accept FSA or HSA cards?
Yes, I do.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. Please see the section above for details on how I help families get reimbursed through their insurance plans.
Do you offer sliding scale spots?
I currently have two sliding scale spots, and they are filled at this time. However, I do try to make therapy more accessible by offering options such as biweekly sessions, lower-cost group sessions, dyad sessions (attending with a peer), or education sessions for parents, which can help reduce the overall cost.
